Four experienced psychoanalysts and an English professor will theoretically discuss, and clinically illustrate, the significant but neglected role of humor in psychoanalytic work and in life. Topics of focus include a historical perspective on humor's central healing role in psychoanalytic practice and supervision, humor in the psychoanalytic relationship, in couples' therapy, an overview of Freud's Jokes and Their Relation to the Unconscious, and humor within the academic sphere.
